EUROPEAN MEDIATECH INVESTMENT FORUM
Media Deal organises European Mediatech Investment Forums in various cities around Europe in cooperation with local partners. The typical setup of those events is the following.
Participants:
10 European mediatech early-stage companies are selected which will have the opportunity to present their investment opportunity to 10 private equity investors of the Media Deals European network (BAs, VCs and funds). The main selection criteria are mediatech sector relevance, European/International focus, a strong entrepreneurial and leadership spirit and previous interest won for the project (e.g. prize, investment, subsidies).
Selection criteria:
The criteria to participate at the training event are the following:
-
Project linked to the mediatech sector (Cinema, Internet, TV, games, digital music, new distribution platforms, technology-related media…)
-
European/International focus
-
Strong entrepreneurship spirit
-
Interest has been demonstrated to the project (prize, investment, subsidy…)
Structure of the forums:
The events typically last for one and a half day for entrepreneurs and one full day for investors.
Entrepreneurs are offered two half days of training for the pitching session which will take place during the afternoon of the second day. During the first half day (Day 1), one-to-one sessions with experts provide entrepreneurs with a feedback on how to improve the impact of their presentation and the way they present their company. In the morning of Day 2, entrepreneurs have a test pitch before presenting their project in front of the investors in the afternoon.
During the time where the entrepreneurs do their test pitches, the investors have an interactive session, sharing their views on international investment strategies, opportunities and personal experiences in the mediatech industry.
After the morning sessions of Day 2, an informal roundtable between entrepreneurs and investors is organised where there is time for Q&A’s on how investors source projects, and they look for when assessing an investment opportunity. After lunch, the actual pitches to the investors take place, each followed by a short Q&A.
Benefits:
Both entrepreneurs as investors are able to develop valuable relationships and their understanding about investment in the European mediatech sector. It is important to note that not only the development of relationship between entrepreneurs and investors is highly beneficial, but also the development within each group of links between people operating in different European countries.
